Fortune Worm Fossil is a rock trinket added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

+0.2 shot speed.
+2 luck.
Grants a luck-affected chance to fire fortune cookies that deal 105% damage and will display a random fortune on screen when hitting an enemy.
Crush Effect: Spawns a Soul Heart in addition to the rest of its crush drops, and displays 3 random fortunes.

Notes

The chance to fire a fortune cookie tear is equal to: 1 / (22 − Basechance − Luck)
- Basechance is set to 1 for each character, except Fiend, who has it set to 5.
- The chance is capped at 1 in 3 chance to fire a fortune cookie at 18 luck (14 luck for Fiend).

Interactions

Trinket Multipliers: Increases shot speed by an additional +0.10 and luck by an additional +2 for every Trinket multiplier. Also multiplies the Basechance value with the total Trinket multiplier.
Leftover Takeout: Increases the Basechance to 18. Combined the luck up both the Trinket and Item provide, this is very likely to reach the 1/3 chance cap.
- Fiend + Leftover Takeout: Increases the Basechance to 22.
The Forgotten / Tainted Forgotten / Tainted Samson / Berserk! / Spirit Sword: Melee attacks will not have a chance to deal 105% damage or create a fortune when hitting an enemy.
Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on Fortune Worm Fossil rerolls it into Sword Fossil.

Trivia

Fortune Worm Fossil is the rock trinket version of Fortune Worm and has an identical effect, albeit the latter does not have a crush effect.
